Happy New Year. I'm back on deck after a fantastic few weeks holidaying in New Zealand. Every time I return to my homeland I'm reminded of its unique beauty and laid back approach to just about everything! Highlights of our holiday included cruising around Auckland's sparkling Waitemata Harbour, taking in the majesty of Rangitoto from North Head, white water rafting on the spectacular Rangitaiki River, basking in the soft white sand and catching the waves at Waihi and Papamoa Beaches and of course sampling a few Sauv Blancs with family and friends!

One of my favourite holiday past times is reading for pleasure instead of business. Two of the books I read were "The Happiest Refugee" a memoir by Anh Do and "Jim Stynes My Journey". Although very different life stories, both are poignant reminders of how fortunate we are to live 'down under' and to make the most of life. As my teenage children regularly remind me - YOLO (you only live once!).
With that in mind, instead of just making the usual new year's resolutions, I've decided to take the advice of internationally renowned coach and colleague Ben Renshaw
. Ben suggests that you decide on a theme that becomes your guiding mantra throughout the year. Last year our team chose to focus on themes such as growth, fun, gratitude, balance, family and freedom.
I've decided that my 'word' for 2013 is ENJOY. Sometimes I'm running so hard juggling work and family commitments that I forget to have fun! This year I'm going to make the most of opportunities that come my way, stay in the moment, count my blessings and enjoy life even more.
What will be your focus or guiding mantra this year? YOLO!
